Can You Be Too Fat to Be U.S. President?

Apparently the governor of New Jersey is too fat to be president according to a former White House physician. She states that Chris Christie’s health is basically a “time bomb waiting to happen…” due to his “morbid obesity” and that he should reduce his weight before running for president. On that same token wouldn’t John McCain have been too old to be president? At almost 80 would he have posed a risk due to his age and associated health risks?

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie

Funny enough I think the world expects an obese president. Having lived outside of the US for the last five years, I can definitely say that most people expect Americans to be fat, loud, and self-important. Having Chris Christie as a president may just bring the US in-line with what everyone thinks we already are. Already described as short-tempered, Christie responded to the former White House physicians comments stating.

People who have a medical license, who have the privilege of having a medical license, should in my view conduct themselves more responsibly than that. If she wants to get on a plane and come here to New Jersey and ask me if she wants to examine me and review my medical history, I’ll have a conversation with her about that. Until that time, she should shut up.

Hopefully Christie is loud, has terrible table manners, and assumes his opinion is the most important in the room at all times. Unify the world through stereotypes. As a matter of fact, let’s pair him up with Honey Boo Boo’s mom as vice president. Honey Boo Boo’s mom for president in 2020.

Personally I am of the opinion that the president should be selected based on his views, programs, and strategy for running the country, but hey… to each his own. Are we really so shallow that the weight, race, age, or any other non-personal or political factor automatically disqualifies a potential presidential candidate? I would truly hope not.
